To Whom It May Concern:

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 28th, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will be holding an event at the Orange County Convention Center. There, they will be raising funds for the establishment of a CAIR office in Orlando. We, the Americans Against Hate, for a number of reasons, do not believe you should allow this to occur.

CAIR was the brainchild of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), a group that was created by the present-day number two leader in HAMAS, Mousa Abu Marzook. Upon its founding, IAP President Omar Ahmad became CAIR's National Chairman, and CAIR co-founder Rafiq Jaber became the IAP's President. In December of 2004, the IAP was found liable in the death of David Boim, who was brutally murdered during a HAMAS terrorist operation.

Speaking at the Orlando fundraiser will be CAIR's Executive Director, Nihad Awad. While Awad was with the IAP, he was quoted as saying, "I am in support of the HAMAS movement."

After 9/11, CAIR used its website to raise money for the Holy Land Foundation and the Global Relief Foundation, two terror charities that were later closed down by the U.S. government.

CAIR Board Member, Ghassan Elashi, who was the head of the Holy Land Foundation, was convicted of sending money to HAMAS; CAIR Fundraiser, Rabih Haddad, who was the head of the Global Relief Foundation, was deported; CAIR Civil Rights Coordinator, Randal Todd "Ismail" Royer, was convicted of plotting to leave for Afghanistan to assist Al-Qaeda in fighting against Americans; CAIR Community Affairs Director, Bassem Khafagi, was convicted of bank and visa fraud and then deported; and CAIR Advisory Board Member, Siraj Wahhaj, had his name listed as a potential co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Every year, thousands of families flock to Orlando to experience its featured resorts and attractions. Many individuals and businesses, both large and small, look to Orlando to sustain their livelihoods. And many others make beautiful Orlando their home. In this sensitive period of time, while we are at war with those who wish to destroy us, we do not want anything to threaten the citizens of Orlando, Orlando's exceptional tourism industry, or Orlando's general way of life. Given CAIR's alarming past, it is our belief that the establishment of a CAIR office in the heart of Orlando could be a disaster for the city. We therefore ask that you air on the side of caution and prevent this from occurring. Please stop the CAIR Orlando office from becoming a reality. Please stop it now!

We thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Joe Kaufman
