HAMAS FUNDRAISER GEORGE GALLOWAY DENIED ENTRY INTO UNITED STATES
GALLOWAY A NO-SHOW AT POMPANO, FL EVENT ATTENDED BY TERROR-RELATED INDIVIDUALS AND A SELF-DESCRIBED HEZBOLLAH MEMBER
(Pompano Beach, FL) Last night, Wednesday December 15th, a group of around twenty-five individuals, made up mostly of members of the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party, protested a fundraiser which was taking place at the Islamic Center of South Florida (ICOSF), more commonly known as the Pompano Masjid or Pompano Mosque.
The fundraiser, which was sponsored by the Muslim Legal Fund for America (MLFA), was supposed to feature British activist George Galloway. However, Galloway had been denied entry into the United States, apparently due to his previous activities of providing material support to Hamas, a group found on the United States list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), so the audience could only see and hear him via a live stream.
In March 2009, Galloway, following a large fundraising drive, stated while in Gaza City, “Whatever we brought we will give. Tomorrow, Allah willing, at 10 o'clock in the morning, we will give all our vehicles, our keys, our aid, our money to Ismail Haniya, the elected prime minister of Palestine.” Ismail Haniya is the head of Hamas in Gaza.
Attending the demonstration was Joe Kaufman, Chairman of Americans Against Hate (AAH), an anti-bigotry, terrorism watchdog group. Kaufman gave a speech discussing the extremism and terrorist ties of the mosque and thanking the U.S. government for taking action against Galloway. Kaufman said that, because of his fundraising for Hamas, Galloway should be “behind bars.” He also said that the mosque should be shut down for holding an event featuring a known terrorist fundraiser and that the group sponsoring the event should be investigated.
At the fundraiser, an attendee who was dressed in a keffiyeh
, a violence-related Arab headscarf, who was standing next to what appeared to be his three young sons (also dressed in keffiyehs
), emphatically stated in Hebrew, “We are Hezbollah” and yelled, “Hezbollah is going to f**k you, and you’re not going to know how.”
Also attending the conference were Nezar Hamze, the new Executive Director of the South Florida chapter of the Hamas-related Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout, the former Vice President of the Health Resource Center for Palestine (HRCP), a Hamas-related charity which was shut down in April 2003.
During the demonstration, Hamze confronted Kaufman, falsely claiming that he came to the area only to speak to Kaufman and not to attend the fundraiser. After being asked a number of times, Hamze refused to denounce either Hamas or Galloway.
