(Coral Springs, FL) On March 29, 2005, after giving a speech that was highly critical of the present day radical movement within Islam, scholar Khaleel Mohammad was greeted with a verbal assault from the Imam of the Islamic Center of Boca Raton (ICBR), Muneer Arafat. Arafat stated, "If you speak the truth, then I believe I am going to be a Jew tomorrow."

Khaleel Mohammad's lecture took place at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), what has become known as a hotbed of radical Islam. Mohammad, who is a Muslim himself, stated that he heard the worst kind of anti-Semitism coming from the mouth of Imam Arafat.

Muneer Arafat's hateful sentiments are indicative of the mosques he has become affiliated with. On the website of ICBR, Arafat's current mosque, until it was taken down, one could find an article, entitled 'Why can't the Jews and Muslims live together in peace?' The article stated, "There cannot be harmony between Jews - who are usurpers and aggressors, who have oppressed and persecuted others, and who are known for their treachery and corruption throughout the world, historically and in the present age…" and "…the Jews are people of treachery and betrayal; it is not possible to trust them at all." And it repeats the infamous Hadith, "You will fight the Jews and will prevail over them, so that a rock will say, 'O Muslim! There is Jew behind me, kill him!'"

On the website of Arafat's previous mosque, the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton (ISSB), one can, even today, find numerous anti-Jewish quotes. In the January 1, 2001 issue of ISSB's monthly newsletter THE FAITH, one reads, "A time will come when the people will vie each other in (building) the mosques but very few will attend (the mosques)… You will certainly embellish them as the Jews and Christians did (embellished their places of worship)." In the March 2001 issue, one reads, "He who dies without having performed the Hajj, let him die a Jew or a Christian, as he wishes." And in the May 2001 issue, one reads, "The best example in Volunteering service is the Messenger of Allah (SAAW) and his companions-everyone was working hard to spread the message. Not like the Jews when they said to Prophet Moussa (pbuh) that go to fight-your enemy- you and your God, we will be sitting here (not coming with you)."

Joe Kaufman, Chairman of Americans Against Hate, stated, "One component of radical Islam is a profound hatred towards Jews. Imam Muneer Arafat is a perfect example of that hatred. It is no wonder that he has chosen to lead mosques that have embraced that same hateful message."
