MAN NAMED IN 1993 BOMBING OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER SPEAKING IN CORAL SPRINGS

WAHHAJ WAS NUMBER 158 IN LIST OF "UNINDICTED PERSONS WHO MAY BE ALLEGED AS CO-CONSPIRATORS"

(Coral Springs, FL) Today, Siraj Wahhaj, a fiery Brooklyn imam, is scheduled to speak at a conference being held at the La Quinta Inn in Coral Springs, Florida. The event is sponsored by Silk for Diverse Cultures.

Wahhaj is infamous for having been named as a possible co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, which left six people dead and scores of others injured. The list, where Wahhaj's name is found, was compiled by U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White, who led the prosecution in the trial to convict those responsible for the bombing.

Along with Wahhaj's name, on the list are Osama bin Laden; bin Laden's mentor Abdullah Azzam; and Fawaz Damra, an individual who will soon be deported for his involvement in Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

During the trial, Wahhaj took the stand as a character witness for the spiritual leader of the bombing, Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman. Wahhaj lauded him as a "respected scholar."

Wahhaj has also made numerous statements against the United States and has been involved with a number of organizations with ties to terrorism.

When contacted, Trey Chizmar, Manager of the La Quinta Inn, seemed totally unconcerned that this individual would be speaking at his establishment. He stated, "I don't discriminate against anyone entering the hotel." He seemed surprised that anyone would even phone the hotel about something such as this.

When asked if the hotel conducts research on the persons that will be speaking there, Chizmar said it does not and that he has over 900 things to do.

According to the hotel operator, the hotel does not employ security.

Joe Kaufman, the Chairman of Americans Against Hate (AAH), stated, "If I was a guest at the La Quinta Inn, I would be very concerned at how lax the hotel is about matters regarding the subject of terrorism. And if I was staying at this hotel and knew that this individual would be speaking there, I would demand a refund and leave the establishment immediately."

Joe Kaufman is available for interview. E-mail: joe4rep@gate.net.
